Mounted posters give your artwork a more professional and durable presentation than a loose paper poster. The rigid backing helps the poster stay flat, making it easier to display on walls, easels, counters, exhibition stands and retail fixtures.
Mounting also helps protect the print from creasing, curling and handling damage. This is useful for posters that need to be transported, reused or displayed for longer than a short campaign.
Board-mounted posters can also look more premium. A clean edge, smooth surface and rigid structure can make photography, artwork, presentation graphics and promotional posters feel more finished and display-ready.
Different boards suit different uses. Foam board is lightweight and practical for short-term displays, while gatorboard, acrylic, PVC, ACM or MDF may be better for more durable or premium applications.
For many jobs, direct-to-board printing can be even more efficient because the artwork is printed straight onto the rigid material, removing the need for a separate adhesive mounting step.
Before ordering mounted posters, start with how and where the display will be used. A short-term event sign may only need lightweight foam board, while a retail display, office sign or exhibition panel may need a stronger or more durable substrate.
The finished size is important. Larger mounted posters may need thicker or stronger board to help prevent bending, warping or damage during transport and installation.
Think about the viewing distance and display environment. Posters viewed up close need sharp artwork and a clean finish, while larger display panels may need bold text, simple layouts and strong contrast.
The fixing method should also be considered before production. Some mounted posters are displayed on easels, while others may need holes, Velcro, hanging strips, standoffs or wall fixings.
Indoor and outdoor use require different materials. Foam board is best suited to indoor and short-term displays, while outdoor or longer-term signs may need PVC, ACM, corflute or another weather-suitable substrate.
