Foam Board Signs Sydney

Lightweight 5mm and 10mm foam board signs, posters and displays in standard sizes, custom sizes and cut-to-shape formats.

Foam Board Signs Printing Sydney

Need lightweight, professional signs printed for an event, exhibition, presentation, retail display, wedding or promotion? Fast Print Services produces custom foam board signs, posters and displays in Sydney for businesses, venues, agencies, schools, events and personal projects.

Foam board, also known as foamcore or KT board, is a rigid, lightweight board with a smooth printable surface and foam centre. It is particularly useful for indoor signage, temporary displays, welcome signs, presentation boards, menu boards, retail POS, exhibition graphics and event signage.

We can produce 5mm and 10mm foam board in standard A-series sizes or custom dimensions, with options including custom shape cutting, rounded corners, holes, eyelets, easel backs, strut backs, single or double-sided printing and Sydney pickup or courier delivery.

Custom Foam Board Printing for Signs, Posters and Displays

Foam board is a practical choice when you need a rigid display that is easy to carry, install and present.

It gives posters, graphics and signage more structure than a loose paper print while remaining considerably lighter than materials such as acrylic, PVC, timber or aluminium composite panel.

Foam board can be printed directly or produced using printed self-adhesive vinyl mounted to the board, depending on the artwork, finish, quantity and production requirements.

It works particularly well for events, exhibitions, retail campaigns, presentations, weddings, school displays, menu boards and other indoor or short-term displays.

Printing on Foam Board

Foam board printing offers the perfect balance of professional finish, portability and price. Whether you need a one-off wedding welcome sign or hundreds of retail promos, Fast Print Services guarantees top-tier colour, precision cutting and turnaround times to match your schedule.

Foam board is also called (foamcore or KT board), and it combines a smooth, printable surface with a foam inner core, so your graphics look premium yet remain ultra-portable. From one-off wedding welcome boards to national retail roll-outs, we give you the speed, flexibility and craftsmanship to bring big ideas to life.

Our in-house Foam Board signs are printed using our HP latex flatbed printer or eco-friendly, 8 colour high-end wide format printers, with UV inks and vinyls and can be cut to almost any shape.

Popular Uses for Foam Board Signs

Foam board is useful when you need professional-looking signage that is lightweight, rigid and easy to handle.

  • Events and exhibitions: Expo graphics, sponsor boards, temporary wayfinding and event displays.
  • Weddings and private events: Welcome signs, seating plans, menus and directional signs.
  • Retail promotions: Sale signs, window displays, counter displays, product launches and temporary campaign graphics.
  • Corporate presentations: Charts, plans, concepts, photographs and presentation boards.
  • Schools and education: Exhibitions, open days, student presentations and display projects.
  • Photography and artwork: Lightweight photo panels, temporary gallery displays and presentation pieces.

Foam board is particularly suited to indoor and short-term applications where appearance, portability and easy installation are more important than long-term weather resistance.

What Do Our Clients Think?

5mm and 10mm Foam Board Printing

Foam board is commonly available from Fast Print Services in 5mm and 10mm thicknesses.

  • 5mm foam board: A lightweight option for posters, smaller signs, presentations, wayfinding, table signs and short-term indoor displays.
  • 10mm foam board: A thicker and more rigid option for larger display boards, exhibition graphics, welcome signs and pieces that need a more substantial feel.

The best thickness depends on the finished size, display method, handling and how long the board needs to remain in use.

Foam Board Sign Options

  • Foam board posters: Rigid poster-style signs for exhibitions, presentations, launches, retail displays, school projects and office graphics.
  • Event foam board signs: Lightweight signs for conferences, parties, activations, markets, shows, product launches and temporary wayfinding.
  • Wedding welcome signs: Printed welcome boards, seating charts, bar menus, directional signs and event display pieces for weddings and private events.
  • Retail POS boards: Short-term promotional boards for shelves, counters, windows, product displays, campaign graphics and sale messaging.

Foam Board, PVC Foam Board and Mounted Prints

Foam board, foamcore and KT board generally describe the lightweight foam-centred board covered on this page.

PVC foam board, sometimes called Foamex, is a different rigid plastic material. It may be more suitable where greater durability or a different surface is required. We can also print directly onto a range of rigid substrates through our direct-to-media printing service.

There are two common ways we produce standard foam board:

  • Direct-to-board printing: Artwork is printed directly onto the board for a clean, efficient result.
  • SAV mounted foam board: Printed self-adhesive vinyl is applied to the board where the job requires a different print method, surface finish or lamination.

If you already have a paper or photographic poster that needs to be applied to board, our poster mounting service may be more appropriate.

What to Consider Before Ordering Foam Board Signs

Start with where and how the sign will be used.

Foam board is best suited to indoor displays and temporary event use. For longer-term outdoor signage, a more weather-resistant material such as corflute, PVC or aluminium composite panel may be more suitable.

Consider:

  • Viewing distance: Larger text and simpler layouts are easier to read from across a room or event space.
  • Thickness: 5mm is suitable for many everyday signs, while 10mm gives larger panels additional rigidity.
  • Display method: Tell us if you need an easel back, strut back, holes, eyelets or another fixing method.
  • Transport: Foam board is lightweight but its edges and corners need careful handling.
  • Deadline: Standard sizes, print-ready artwork and straightforward finishing give urgent jobs the best chance of being produced quickly.

Artwork Setup for Foam Board Printing

Foam board signs are often viewed from a distance, so artwork should be clear, simple and easy to read.

  • Keep the message concise: Avoid overcrowding the board with unnecessary text.
  • Use strong contrast: Make important information easy to distinguish from the background.
  • Consider viewing distance: Increase headline and key-message sizes for signs viewed from further away.
  • Use suitable images: Supply high-resolution images or vector graphics where possible.
  • Allow bleed: Supply print-ready artwork with 3mm bleed unless advised otherwise.
  • Use CMYK colour: Supply print-ready PDF artwork using appropriate print colour settings.
  • Embed or outline fonts: This helps prevent font substitution.
  • Double-sided artwork: Tell us whether both sides use the same artwork or different designs.
  • Custom shapes: A cutter guide may be required for contour-cut work.

If you need assistance, our design team can prepare new artwork or help adjust supplied files for production.

Design Best Practices

Well-prepared artwork makes a big difference to how professional your finished signage looks, particularly on larger rigid boards where small design problems become much more noticeable.

  • Keep the message concise: Large-format signage should be easy to understand at a glance. Use a short headline, clear supporting information and one obvious call to action rather than trying to fit too much copy onto the board.

  • Use text that is large enough to read: For signage viewed from around three metres away, headline text should generally be at least 25 pt, with larger type used where the sign needs to be read from further away. Important information such as phone numbers, web addresses and directions should also be easy to read quickly.

  • Maintain brand consistency: Use the same logo, fonts, colours and visual style as your other marketing material. Where colour accuracy is important, supply the correct PMS or CMYK colour values so the finished sign matches your broader branding as closely as possible.

  • Supply high-quality images: Use 300 dpi images at the actual printed size where practical, or supply vector artwork for logos, icons and illustrations. Low-resolution images taken from websites or screenshots can appear soft or pixelated when enlarged.

  • Allow for bleed and safe areas: Add 3mm bleed around the outside of the artwork and keep important text, logos and other critical elements at least 5mm inside the finished edge. This helps prevent important information being affected during trimming or finishing.

  • Choose a finish to suit the environment: Matte lamination can help reduce reflections and glare under strong indoor lighting, while gloss can enhance colour and photographic images. The best finish depends on where the sign will be displayed and how it will be viewed.

  • Design for the viewing distance: A sign seen from across a room, roadside or event space needs a much simpler layout than a board viewed close-up. Prioritise the most important message and use strong contrast between the background and text.

  • Avoid overcrowding the layout: White space makes signage easier to read and helps the most important information stand out. Trying to fill every part of the board can make the design harder to understand from a distance.

  • Check logos and fine details: Very small text, thin lines and detailed graphics may not reproduce as clearly as they appear on screen, particularly when viewed from a distance. Keep important elements bold enough for the final printed size.

  • Set up QR codes carefully: If your sign includes a QR code, make sure it is large enough to scan comfortably and has sufficient clear space around it. Always test the final QR code before supplying the artwork.

  • Check spelling, dates and contact details: Proofread every element carefully before approving the artwork. A typo, incorrect phone number, wrong event date or outdated website address can be expensive to correct once a rigid sign has been printed and finished.

Need help polishing your artwork? Our in-house design studio can refine an existing layout, improve readability, retouch photographs, prepare supplied artwork for print or create a new concept that works with your broader branding and marketing material.
