Foil Printing Sydney

Foil Printing Sydney

Add shine, texture and premium detail to your printed pieces with custom foil printing in Sydney. Fast Print Services offers gold foil, silver foil, rose gold, copper, holographic and metallic foil options for business cards, invitations, packaging, labels, stationery, brochure covers and other specialty print projects.

Foil printing is ideal when you want your logo, text, pattern or design detail to catch the light and feel more refined. Depending on your artwork, quantity, stock and deadline, we can recommend the best method, including hot foil stamping, digital foil printing, metallic inks or raised Scodix metallic effects.

Based in Alexandria, close to the Sydney CBD, our team can help with artwork setup, foil colour selection, stock selection, production planning, and delivery.

Gold Foil Printing and Custom Foil Finishes

Gold foil printing is one of the most popular ways to achieve a premium finish, but it is only one of the available options. We can also help with silver foil, rose gold, copper, bronze, holographic and other metallic foil effects, depending on the production method and stock.

Foil can be used for small highlights, logos, borders, names, patterns, icons and feature details. It works especially well when paired with strong contrast, simple artwork and quality paper stocks.

For a traditional premium finish, hot foil stamping uses heat, pressure and a custom block to apply foil to the stock. For shorter runs or variable details, digital foil printing and metallic inks may be more practical. For a raised metallic effect, Scodix can create a dimensional finish on selected stocks.

We specialise in creating high-quality, eye-catching foil prints that add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your printed materials. From invitations to branded stationery, foil printing adds reflective accents that pair beautifully with deep, tactile papers. Whether you need business cards, invitations, brochures, or packaging, our foil printing services enhance the visual appeal and perceived value of your products.

Which Foil Printing Method Is Right for Your Job?

Different foil methods suit different jobs, quantities and budgets.

Hot foil stamping creates a traditional premium finish using heat, pressure and a custom-made block. It is a strong choice for luxury business cards, wedding stationery, packaging, presentation folders and formal invitations.

Digital foil printing is useful for shorter runs, samples and variable data because it does not require a custom block. It can be a more flexible option for personalised names, smaller quantities or jobs with a tighter budget.

Metallic ink printing creates a metallic effect using digital metallic toner or ink. It does not have the same impression as traditional hot foil, but it can be practical for certain short-run or variable print projects.

Raised Scodix metallic finish creates a textured raised effect, often used for premium business cards, covers and high-impact feature details.

The best choice depends on your artwork, quantity, stock, deadline and the type of finish you want to achieve.

Silver and Gold Foil Printing for premium finishes

Add eye-catching shine to your print with precision-applied metallic foil in silver or gold. Perfect for business cards, invitations and swing tags, our in-house Alexandria team lays down crisp, reflective details with tight registration on premium stocks. You’ll get fast quotes, helpful prepress checks and Sydney-wide courier delivery. Pair gold foiling with matt or soft-touch laminate to minimise scuffing and keep your print looking its best.

What Do Our Clients Think?

Hot stamp foiling

A hot foil press uses traditional metallic foil, which is applied to the surface material with heat and pressure. It involves creating a magnesium block with your chosen design etched in. The foil is then placed between the block and the surface, and the stock is stamped into it one at a time.

It’s an elegant way to add class and style to your printing and is available in metallic gold, silver, rose gold, copper and even holographic, as well as a range of other colours. Due to setup time and costs, the minimum order quantity is 50, and no variable data is available.

Hot stamp foiling works great on its own, or you can keep it small and team it up with digital, offset print, white ink or letterpress. The beauty of foiling lies in its versatility, allowing it to be used on a range of stock options and create a premium effect.

Hot Stamp foiling options and benefits

  • Gold foiling plus silver foil, rose gold, copper and a range of colours are available.
  • An elegant metallic impression for a premium finish
  • Generic content only, no variable data. Foil content works for text or vectorised artwork, but is not suitable for photographs or compressed images.
  • Standard turnaround 7-15 business days depending on the specs and complexity of the order. Quicker turnarounds are available upon special request in some cases. Please check with our sales team if you have a strict deadline for your foiling job.
  • Effective on a range of paper and cardstocks from our standard range through to premium cardstocks up to 600-700gsm. Also available on a variety or coloured cards and papers.
  • Suitable on a range of products from business cards, brochures and booklets to high end corporate printing and wedding stationery.

Other metallic/foil print options

Digital Metallic Inks

Digital foiling uses a metallic dry toner directly on paper or cardstock without the need to create custom blocks/plates. We use digital gold, silver, and a range of metallic colours, which have a much quicker turnaround in comparison to hot stamp foiling. This also allows us to print variable data, accommodate short runs, and even print samples, which are not available options with hot foil pressing.

Digital foiling creates beautiful results, but please keep in mind it’s not going to be the same as a hot foil. For one, it will be directly printed onto the card rather than stamped, creating a deep impression. Please ask our friendly sales team for samples to see the difference between the two.

Digital Metallic ink options and benefits

  • Metallic gold, silver and a range of colours are available
  • Quicker turnaround of 5-7 business days
  • A more cost-effective option
  • Available for variable data
  • Can produce digital foil samples
  • Shorter runs are available with a minimum order of 2
  • A popular option for wedding stationery and invitations

Digital Foiling (sleeking)

Digital foil or sleeking is a process of fusing metallic foil sheets to digital toner ink. Your design is printed with black toner, then the sheet is fed through a digital foiling machine, which uses a heat roller similar to a laminator. Digital foil printing keeps setup time low and suits personalisation or variable data. Typically, this form of digital foil works best on stock with a matte cello glaze to help with adhesion. So, keep in mind this option is not available on uncoated or textured stocks. Turnaround for digital foiling is currently 5-7 business days.

Digital foiling options and benefits

  • Metallic gold, silver and a range of colours are available
  • A more cost-effective option
  • Available for variable data
  • Shorter runs available

Raised metal Scodix

Scodix or raised UV is a 3D effect similar to digital foiling. A specialty scodix machine uses UV-cured polymer ink that can lay down a very thick coating, up to 250 microns per pass, giving it a raised effect. With two colours available, gold or silver, it’s applied to a 450gsm artboard with velvet laminate.

Scodix foiling options and benefits

  • A premium finish with a raised metallic finish
  • Luxe thick 450gsm stock
  • 7 Business Day turnaround
  • A premium finish without the price tag
  • Popular choice for high end business cards
  • Minimum order quantity of 250 and 250 per kind when ordering business cards
  • A nice addition to books and presentation folders

Benefits of Foil Printing

Foil printing adds a premium finish that immediately changes the look and feel of a printed piece. The metallic reflection catches the light, draws attention to key details and gives your print a more polished, high-value appearance.

It works beautifully for logos, names, borders, patterns, monograms and feature text. This makes foil popular for business cards, wedding invitations, packaging, labels, certificates, stationery, booklet covers and high-end marketing collateral.

Foil also creates contrast. A small gold or silver detail on a dark, matt, textured or soft-touch stock can feel elegant and memorable without overwhelming the design.

There are different foil methods available depending on the job. Hot foil stamping gives a traditional premium impression, digital foil can suit shorter runs or variable data, and Scodix can add a raised metallic effect for extra texture.

When used well, foil printing helps your brand, invitation or product packaging feel more considered, tactile and memorable.

Perfect Paper

Why not take your printing one step further? Make yourself stand out from the crowd by selecting one of the many different paper stocks available; We hold a range of over 60 coated, uncoated and premium stocks in house and there are hundreds more we can source for you to choose from.

Foil-Ready Stocks & Sustainable Options

Foils and metalliac inks print beautifully on smooth, coated or premium matt stocks up to 600–700 gsm. Metallic foil contrasts well even on dark backgrounds. We also offer eco-conscious paper options, including FSC-certified and recycled stocks, so you can enjoy guilt-free foil finishing with quality materials.

What to Consider Before Ordering Foil Printing

Before ordering foil printing, start with the effect you want to achieve. A small logo, border or name in foil can look refined, while large solid foil areas may need extra production checks to keep the finish clean and even.

Artwork setup is important. Foil works best with vector shapes, clean typography, outlined fonts and simple design elements. Very fine lines, tiny text, photographs, low-resolution images and complex gradients are usually not suitable for foiling.

The stock also matters. Smooth, coated, matt-laminated or premium stocks often give better foil results than rough or heavily textured papers, depending on the method used.

Quantity can affect the best production method. Hot foil stamping has setup costs because it requires a custom block, so it is often better for premium runs. Digital foil may be more practical for shorter runs, samples or variable data.

Turnaround should also be checked early. Foil printing usually takes longer than standard digital printing because it involves extra setup, finishing and quality checks.

If your project has a fixed event date or launch deadline, send the artwork and specifications as early as possible so we can confirm the best foil method and production timing.

Best Design Practices for Foil Printing

Ensure the best results with these foil printing best practices:

  • High-Resolution Artwork: Provide high-resolution images and graphics to ensure sharp and clear foil prints.
  • Contrast and Design: Use high contrast between the foil and the background to make the foil elements pop. Simple, bold designs often work best.
  • Consistent Branding: Maintain consistent branding elements such as logos, colours, and fonts to reinforce your brand identity.
  • Proofing: Always review a proof before final printing to catch any errors and ensure the design meets your expectations.
  • Material Selection: Choose the right paper or material that complements the foil and enhances the overall look of your print.
