Artboard with matt cello

Want to add an extra special touch to your printing, or in need of a protective coating to help it last longer? Then a celloglaze is the perfect finishing option for you.  

Celloglazing (also known as cello-sheening or cello-finishing) offers a professional, high-end look and feel to your printing. The process involves fixing a thin sheet of plastic film to one or both sides of a printed sheet with heat-activated glue and pressure. Adding a celloglaze offers added protection and durability to your print job that is difficult to remove. 

A matt cello glaze offers a non-reflective, satiny, soft and tactile quality to your print job for an understated yet high end look. Please keep in mind that it can flatten our colours so may not be recommended for a bright coloured artwork. On our satin artboard, the celloglaze can be applied 1 or 2 sided. It’s a great option for business cards, booklet covers, menus, presentation folders, school year books, financial reports, price lists, maps, reusable tags, educational materials, bookmarks, and membership cards. 

Unfortunately, this product is not suitable for writing on. 

FPS Print suitability  

A gloss celloglaze can be applied along with the following print and finishing methods: 

  • CMYK Digital printing
  • Spot UV
  • Offset
  • Die-cutting 
  • Dry toner printing                

Weights and stock options 

Our standard option for cello glaze is on 350gsm satin artboard but it can be added to other stocks and weights upon request. Cello glazing is not recommended for paper stocks under 170gsm as lighter weights can crease during the laminating process. For best results we suggest using a 200-400gsm stock. Process works best on a standard satin or gloss artboard but can also be used on some uncoated and textured stocks if required.
